Manicure Monday - Malaga Wine

Happy Monday Folks! Hopefully you had a great weekend. Mine was pretty low-key and I thoroughly enjoyed it ;-) Yesterday I was invited to a Jamberry party (nail wraps if you're not familiar) and had a good time. The host had lots of sample patterns laid out for us to play around with so I got a little creative. The houndstooth caught my eye first...I guess you could say I was feeling the football spirit a bit. My husband is a huge Alabama fan and the first game of the season is this weekend so I figured he would appreciate the gesture (Roll Tide!). I didn't have time to do a full manicure so I decided to pair the accent nails with one of my favorite bold colors and I'm pleased with the results.

Although I've heard a lot about the company, this is my first time trying them out. I've always liked the convenience of nail wraps but have yet to a brand to write home about. The application was very easy and they're supposed to last for up to 2 weeks, so I'll be sure to keep you posted on that!

Have you ever tried Jamberry Nail Wraps before? If so, what did you think about them?

Enjoy your day!

Throwback Thursday - Blue Jumpsuit

Happy Thursday!! Of course these are pics I took while on vacation more than a month ago...I know you're not surprised, lol. I have a slight obsession with jumpsuits this summer. If you haven't seen my latest haul video on The Gabe Fix, this may be news to you but I absolutely love them!! I think I'm up to about 8 of them now and still want more...I know, crazy.

Jumpsuit : Target

Shoes : Steve Madden

This was a date night look that came together effortlessly. What I love most about jumpsuits is that you can switch them up whichever way you'd like. I could have easily paired a belt around the waist to add a little extra flare or kept it casual with some cute flats. Either way, they are alright with me!

Are you into the jumpsuit trend or nah? Let me know your thoughts.

Have an awesome day! Thanks for stopping by :-)

Manicure Monday - The Sorta Spif

Hey Peeps, Happy Monday!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Mine was great...super busy but still lots of fun. On Thursday, my husband & I took a mini trip to Chicago for the Beyonce & Jay-Z concert and had an awesome time. While we were there, I decided to treat myself to a manicure because that never happens. It has seriously been YEARS since someone else had done my nails.

Anyway, I've been following the nail artist Spifster Sutton for quite some time waiting for the opportunity to experience her work first hand and Thursday was my day! I sat in the chair and she asked me how I normally wear my nails. I told her that I was pretty plain and stuck to mostly solid colors with an occasionally accent nail. She then went on to ask if there was anything that I didn't like and if I had any ideas. I told her that I wasn't really interested in glitter and that I would like a little white thrown in there since that was the color of my toes but other than that to just do her thing! Let me tell you, she definitely did the dang thang!!

These top pictures are from the day of, I didn't have my camera with me so excuse the iPhone pics!

These pictures are from day 4 with my regular camera

Now that's what I call talent! I was sitting there amazed at how she came up with the designs on the fly, all free handed as well. I fell in love!! Spifster has a variety of packages but since it was my first time, I decided on The Sorta Spif which is 3-4 nail designs each hand but you can certainly get more than that. This manicure is supposed to stay on for up to 2 weeks, but she did mention that after 24hrs I could visit my local nail shop to get a gel top coat added if I wanted it to last longer. I decided against that because I'm not a big fan of gel, so I'll let you know how it goes.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will definitely go back! What do you think...would you be brave enough to rock the designed look?

If you answered yes and are ever in the Chicago area, please make your appointment on Spifster's Style Seat now (she books up pretty fast). Also, be sure to check out her Instagram for more examples of her beautiful work!

Alright folks, have a wonderful day!

Floral Stripes

Hello Peeps! Here's a date night look from a few weeks ago. This dress was an accidental find because I almost walked right by it. The hanger wasn't doing it much justice but since it was on sale, I decided to go ahead and give it a shot. I'm sure glad I did because I quickly fell in love!!

Dress: Target ~ Sandals: Target

I loved this look so much that I even recorded a "Get Ready With Me" Video that will be up on my Youtube channel, The Gabe Fix later today. Check it out if you can!

What do you think? Would you wear this for a date night?

Enjoy the day and thanks for your continued support ;-)

Manicure Monday - Classic Taupe

Hey there! Guess what, I polished my nails and actually remembered to take pictures...aren't you proud of me?? Don't get too excited though because I didn't take the pics until day 5 when the manicure was well on its way out the door. With that being said, please excuse the wear and tear. I thought my makeshift design was cute so I wanted to document it!

Nicka K NY112 Classic Taupe
Sally Hansen 280 Dive In (not pictured)

See...told you they weren't the best but hopefully you get the gist. I received this Nicka K polish in an Ipsy bag a few months ago and this was my first time using it. No complaints, it went on smooth and dried pretty fast. I'm not familiar with the brand though so I have no clue where it's sold. What do you think of the accents? I'm a fan, maybe next time I'll try it with different colors. Don't worry, I'll be sure to get better pictures!

Alright that's it for now, hope you enjoyed the holiday weekend. Happy Monday and thanks for taking the time to read!

Manicure Monday - Come Hither

Happy Monday!! I decided to go bright with my nails this week. This is my first polish from the Sinful Shine collection which is said to have 5x the shine of a patent leather shoe!! So far I'm impressed.

Sinful Shine 1221 Come Hither

I've never been a fan of patent leather but when it comes to my nails, the more shine the better! It's day 3 of my no-chip manicure and they're still going strong. I'm curious to see how long the shine will last.

Have you used this polish before? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Have a wonderful day ;-)

Manicure Monday - Teal

Happy Monday! Funny story about this no-chip manicure. I was at my grandmother's house waiting to go bike riding with the hubby and decided to polish my nails...because you know, nails should be pretty while biking ;-) Anyway, once I finished I put all my nail supplies in a plastic grocery bag so that they wouldn't get my things messy. Fast forward to the next day when I went to take these nail pictures, I couldn't find that bag! Turns out I accidentally threw it away while cleaning out my car...AT THE DUMPSTER!! Talk about upset. Not only did I throw away this nail polish but also my base coat, top coat, nail polish remover, file & cotton balls. Where are they doing that?!

Milani High Speed Fast Dry Teal

I have fallen in love with this color all over again, don't you just love it?! I had actually forgotten about it and now I'm so sad that it's gone. Crossing my fingers that I find a replacement today.

Later Gators!

Manicure Monday - Midnight

Happy Monday! Did you enjoy your weekend? Mine was very laid back which was a much needed change so I'm not complaining. This week's No-Chip Manicure features a jewel tone color that can be worn all year round.

Don't you just love this color?! I absolutely do and I know you will too...go out and get it now!

Have a good one peeps ;-)

Date Night Fly

Hey Peeps, it's my favorite day of the week...yay!! I always loved Fridays but I love them even more these days because that means date night for me & the hubby ;-) Last weekend we went out with some friends to celebrate their birthday and I decided to jazz it up a bit.

Blouse : Ross ~ Pants : Forever 21

Earrings : Forever 21 ~ Booties : Bakers

I'm normally a jeans and cute shirt type of chick but I think I'm becoming a fan of the dressier look. This is probably going to sound weird but the pants made me feel a bit more "grown up", if that makes sense. I'll definitely be investing in some new pieces soon!

How would you describe your style? Do you love your denim or prefer to dress it up?

Have a wonderful weekend and I'll see you back Monday with a new manicure!

High Winds & Burgundy Pants

Last Friday was shaping up to be the perfect day to visit the playground...the sun was out, the weather was above 50 degrees, all that good stuff. Unfortunately, it didn't last very long because once we finally arrived the sun was no more and the wind had taken over!!

Shirt, Pants & Tank : H&M ~ Flats : Target

Scarf: Walmart ~ Watch : Micheal Kors

Picture me trying to strike a pose all while fighting the wind, being blinded by hair constantly blowing in my face and chasing after a highly active 1yr old who refuses to stand still. It was hilarious! I have no doubts that the people at the playground got their laugh of the day. Nevertheless, we had a fun family outing and I even managed to score a handful of great pics...SUCCESS!!

Manicure Monday - Bare Bones

Happy Monday!! Yep, I finally captured a's been forever right?! I've been on a nude kick lately and have been wearing this color for the past two weeks. Guess you can say it's a new fav ;-)

What color are you wearing on your nails this week?! Have a wonderful day and I'll see you on Wednesday for a long overdue outfit post, lol.

White Bean Chicken Chili

Raise your hand if you're over winter...I know I am! This weather is seriously bi-polar. Just yesterday I was riding around with my sunroof open and then today I woke up to snow...too much. Anyway, I figured this recipe (from Sticky.Gooey.Creamy.Chewy) would be perfect for a day like this! I have to admit that I'm not a huge chili fan but this right here is AMAZING. The hubby & I ate it for 3, maybe 4 days straight and we don't normally do leftovers, lol.

1 rotisserie chicken
2 tbsp olive oil
1 medium onion, diced
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 cans chopped green chilis
2 chipotle chilis in adobo sauce, pureed
1 tbsp cumin
1 tbsp oregano
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
6 cups chicken broth
3 can great northern beans, drained & rinsed
1/4 cup whole milk, warmed
2 tbsp cornmeal
Salt & pepper to taste
Sour cream (or greek yogurt) & shredded monterey jack cheese

*Shred rotisserie meat into small pieces and set aside
*Heat olive oil over medium in a large stock pot
*Add onion and sauté until soft (about 5 minutes)
*Stir in garlic, green chilies, chipotles, cumin, oregano & cayenne add cook for a few minutes
*Add chicken broth, chicken and beans then bring to a simmer
*In a small bowl, whisk together milk & cornmeal then gently stir it into the pot
*Cover and let simmer for 30 minutes (or until thickened)
*Season to taste & serve with toppings

CAUTION: This chili has a serious bite so if you're not a fan of spicy, please adjust the amount to chilies you add. Oh and of course you can't serve this bowl of awesomeness without a piece cornbread. Here's a quick recipe I tried from Dashing Dish that turned out perfect! If you decide to try this out, let me know what you think ;-)

Stay warm!

Long Time No See!

Well hello there...long time no see huh? I'm a bit embarrassed that I haven't posted a single thing in almost 4 months. I mean really, who does that?!? Apparently me. I can't even come up with a decent excuse for why I've been away so long. It just happened. Life is good ;-) Seems like I have so much to catch you up on but don't really know where to start. If you're a Youtube subscriber, you won't need a recap but for the handful of you who don't watch my videos I guess I owe you something right? Here goes...

* I moved back home to Indy just in time to spend the holidays with my family which was great!

* Chad Jr. celebrated his 1st Christmas. He had a blast opening gifts (somewhat) & playing with all his new toys.

* NYE was spent with friends at a house party. Quite the opposite of last year when I was 40 weeks pregnant, swollen &

* I threw an epic, last minute 1st birthday party for my baby boy and it turned out perfect! I was super stressed but it all came together in the end. Lesson learned - waiting until the last minute is not a good look...don't ever do that again.

* Btw, I made these awesome Sesame Street cupcakes - super impressed with my skills!

* After many years of being a Beachbody junkie, I finally completed my first program (T25) and got amazing results. 8lbs down and 12 inches gone all during the holiday season - I'll take it! Check out this review video to learn more about my experience.

* Last month I started a new program, P90X3 and so far so good ;-)

* Oh I also decided to take the plunge and become a Beachbody Coach. It's pretty exciting but a little scary at the same time. Trying to break out of my comfort zone...oy vey

Alright peeps, I think that's it for now. Just a brief summary of what's been going on in my life these days. I'm getting back into the swing of things and will promise try very hard not to be gone this long again.

What's been going on in your life? I'd love to hear about it ;-)
