White After Labor Day

Happy Friday!!!

Guess what...I wore white after Labor Day and it felt great! Rules are meant to be broken right?! Granted, I'm not decked out in solid white from head to toe but it's still very much there. I wore this look to my company "fall fest" last week and received tons of compliments. I have to say that it's one of the most comfortable maxi dresses I have! In fact, I love it so much that I also own it in black & grey! Don't act like you've never bought the same piece of clothing in different colors ;-) 

What do you think? Would you wear white after Labor Day or would you rather stick to the rules??

Weird & Wonderful Wednesday

*Missing Homecoming this year AND it's our 100th Celebration (Btw, I graduated from Tennessee State University). Still can't believe I'm not going...super sad :-(

*No more guitar lessons for me...I gave up. Babe is still going strong though.

*Emeals.com - the best thing since sliced bread, seriously. Dinner is easy peasy now. 

*Baby Shower in Indy next month, YAY ;-)

Manicure Monday - Theons #5

Happy Monday! This week's No-Chip Manicure is an oldie but goodie! I say oldie because I remember my Mother wearing this color way back in the day. I thought it was the prettiest red I'd ever seen and still feel that way. I don't wear it often but I when I 'm feeling the need for something classic, it comes out of hiding.

Honey Mustard Chicken

Happy Friday!!! I have a recipe to share today...YAY. I know, it's been a month of Sundays since my last one, forgive me. This is pretty much a staple in my household, we can't get enough of it. Sometimes we use chicken breast and other times we use chicken thighs because they're juicier. The good news is that you could probably make this work with any meat or meatless option of your choice. The sauce makes the dish ;-)

Ingredients

1/3 cup Dijon-Style Mustard

1/2 cup Honey

2 tbsp Dried Dill

 2.5lb Chicken (quartered)

Directions

*Preheat oven to 375 degrees

*Combine mustard, honey and dill

*Arrange chicken quarters in 9 x 13 inch baking dish

*Pour mixture over chicken (making sure to turn over and coat each side)

*Bake covered for 30 minutes

*Uncover and bake for another 10 minutes or until golden brown

That's all folks. Simple but still very delicious! Try it out and let me know what you think ;-)

Can we say trendy?! For whatever reason I decided to wear a chambray shirt and a chevron tank at the same time - sometimes you just have to go all out. At any rate, I have to say that I felt pretty darn cute that day...you know, aside from the swollen ankles.

23 Weeks Pregnant + Birth Plan & Belly Shot

Happy Hump Day!! Thank goodness for my fourth 4 day work week in a row...tomorrow is my Friday and I'm going to visit the family in Indy ;-)

It's that time again! I am currently 23 weeks and 5 days and I can't believe that I'm pass the halfway mark already. So much to do, so little time! Check out my latest pregnancy vlog to see how things have been going!!

Manicure Monday - Smoky Canvas

Hello there!! I hope your weekend was everything you needed it to be ;-) Mine was just as productive as I wanted and I'm proud to say that my house is finally clean!! Feels good. For this week's No-Chip Manicure, I went for one of my favorite shades of gray.

As much as I'm a fan of bold, bright colors; I can also appreciate a nice neutral look. This color is simple yet cute enough to wear on my super short nails. If you noticed the drastic length difference in my two hands, it's because I started taking guitar lessons about a month ago. Although I'm not quite sure how I feel about them yet...too much practice time involved. What I do know is that this whole long nail/short nail situation is not cute. I seriously need to get my priorities together!

One Shirt, Two Ways

Happy Friday!! I don't know about you, but I am so ready for the weekend. No traveling and no plans...well aside from cleaning my raggedy house. I honestly don't know how working wives keep their houses clean, especially if they have children. My house hasn't had a good deep cleaning since I started working full time. Perhaps the pregnancy induced laziness is to blame but really, it has to end! I digress.

This is my absolute favorite piece of maternity clothing! I love the flow of this blouse, not to mention the super vibrant colors. After realizing that it had been worn twice without posting pics, I figured it might be nice to see it styled two different ways. Which look do you like best?

NYC Vacation Recap

Hey there! As I was going through the 500+ pictures we took on vacation, I realized that there would be no way for me to share everything...unless I posted pics for a whole week and we all know that's not happening! So here's a quick recap ;-)

In true tourist fashion, we overpaid to have a guy capture our great looks on paper. It wasn't your usual caricature and I can't exactly say that it looked like us but as far as sidewalk art goes, I shouldn't complain! We also went to see my absolute favorite musical. It was more than amazing!!! If I could do that every night I would!

Our methods of transportation for the week were none other than the fashionable City Sights double decker tour bus and the oh so popular subway. The best part about that was the fact that it was conveniently located right next to our hotel.

The 9/11 Memorial was surreal. To see the waterfalls in place of each tower, outlined with the victims names was awesome. Great to experience how they brought it all together. Of course Times Square was busy as ever all day, every day and full of good people watching!

I think for me, the best part of the trip was being able to see Erykah Badu for FREE in Brooklyn at the Afro Punk Fest (or the Black Woodstock as my husband called it). It was such a blast and I couldn't talk about the fest without mentioning the best food truck I've ever seen in my life!! A full menu of grilled cheese sandwich options along with mac & cheese bites on the side. OMG, I need this truck in my life...I was in definitely in heaven!!

If you ever visit NYC, please go bike riding in Central Park. It was so much fun!! Although I have to admit that I was a bit worn out at the end of the 2 hrs...blame it on the pregnancy! You also need to make your way to the Empire State Building. The views are absolutely breathtaking! My suggestion would be to pay the extra cash for the express pass because those lines are NO JOKE. We were in & out within an hour.

Last but not least, you can't go to NYC without seeing The Statue of Liberty. Getting up close and personal with Lady Liberty was a real treat!

As you can see, we had a wonderful time in The Big Apple!! It was the perfect way to celebrate our 1 Year Anniversary and probably our last real vacation before the little one arrives. We did vlog everyday, so if you're interested in watching videos from the trip, I'll leave the links below...
