Ode to My Twenties

Today is the last day of my twenties. Tomorrow is my Golden Birthday and I'll be 30 on the 30th ;-)

Night of my 27th birthday, the most life changing of the twenties

As I look back over the last decade, I can't help but smile, shake my head and just laugh. It feels like I've been through it all! Let's recap...

experienced life on the campus of an HBCU after years in a predominantly white educational environment
met people who changed my views, pushed me to be better and ultimately became life long friends
graduated from undergrad then moved across country to pursue acting in LA
became a professional server instead
gave up on my dream & moved back home in hopes of finding love
got my first apartment on my own sans roommates
learned that credit cards were not my friend and how to better manage my money
decided to go to graduate school to pursue my masters
found out that the love I thought would last forever was really a bust
continued on the career path of a professional server while working a day job that i hated
got promoted, fired and then rehired as a contractor all within 6 months at said job
became a little too friendly with alcohol and paid a huge price because of it
turned in my server card for the nightlife of a brand ambassador
developed and then later kicked a toxic relationship with cigarettes
graduated with a fresh MBA and no job prospects
started my own business with hopes of leaving the corporate world
met the love of my life but was too preoccupied with useless relationships to notice
finally came to my senses and agreed to be his wife
quit both jobs
had the wedding of my dreams
moved to the country and became a housewife

Didn't I tell you it was a lot? That's definitely not everything but you get the point. At the end of the day, I can truly say that my twenties were the most chaotic, difficult, confusing yet liberating, educational and exciting years of my life. I learned so much about myself and the way of the world that I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Although I've come a very long way, I still have a long way to go and that's okay. Instead of worrying about the things that I don't have, I choose to focus on the things that I do. I will be grateful for the lessons I learned in my twenties and do all that I can to make sure that my thirties turn out even better!!

Cheers to the next 10 years ;-)

Stepped Out

Hey there, Happy Wednesday!! We made it to the middle of the week ;-)

Yesterday I had the pleasure of doing my first guest post on Black & Blonde. I met Lindsay through #BlogTrends (an awesome community for bloggers if you aren't familiar) and couldn't pass up the opportunity to collaborate with her while she's taking a break to get married and enjoy her honeymoon!

Please head over to check out my post - Summer Staple: The Maxi Skirt. If you can, stop back by and let me know what you think!

See you Friday ;-)

Manicure Monday - Multi Colored

Happy Monday!! I hope the weekend treated you right. Thankfully, I was able to be productive and get some much needed things done. For this week's No-Chip Manicure, I decided to recreate a look I saw on Instagram. This isn't an exact match because I used different colors but it's pretty close.

NYC 112 Times Square Tangerine Creme

*Additional Colors*
NYC 294 Lexington Yellow
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri 08 Urgent Orchid
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri 01 Blue Blast
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri 29 Lickety-Split Lime

Let me go ahead and put it on record that I am in no way a nail artist. This was all done with a free hand and lots of concentration. Btw, I am left handed - in case you couldn't already tell by the design struggle on that hand, lol. Not bad for my first time though! What do you think??

Have a fabulous day ;-)

Turquoise Toes & Favorite Colors

Blouse : BCBGMaxazria via Burlington

Earrings : Jewelmint ~ Watch : Guess

Capris : Target ~ Pumps : MIA via Nordstrom Rack

You see, the funny thing about outfit pictures is that they get taken and then somehow I always forget to post them. No seriously - these pictures are from April 1st which was a whole 2 almost 3 months ago. I know, I have to do better! I wore this look featuring my favorites to church that day and ironically, I'm wearing the exact same shirt today but with jeans, flats and different hair. That's close enough...right?!

Btw, I decided to be a little more social today and linked up with A Little Bit of Lacquer & The Pleated Poppy. Be sure to check out them out.

Happy 1st day of summer!! Go out and enjoy it ;-)

Manicure Monday - Dahlia

Happy Monday! How was your weekend?

Sally Hansen 4520-49 Dahlia

For this week's No-Chip Manicure, I went with a color that I often forget about. As you can see it was on super clearance so of course I couldn't pass it up. This is the perfect shade of pink to complement any skin complexion. What do you think?

Have a fabulous day ;-)

Weird & Wonderful Wednesday

Hola amigos!! Is it Friday yet.?! No...oh ok.

Tunic : Charlotte Russe ~ Tank : H&M

Weird
* Headaches - I've had one everyday for the past month...that can't be normal right?!
* I'll be 30 on the 30th of this month and I have not one plan made for that day. I feel LAME :-(
* Speaking of, remember that 30 Before 30 goal I once had months ago? Yeah, not happenin' cap'n.
* Back to driving the extra 6 minutes to work and being late everyday this week because of it.
* Thinking about the last time I stepped foot in the gym is just depressing!

Jeans - Wally World ~ Pumps : Wild Rose via Burlington

Wonderful
* My husband turned 30 yesterday and I'm still in my twenties, haha!
* The moving nightmare is FINALLY over and I'm oh so happy to be back in a comfortable place :-)
* Our newly painted blue wall in the front room is pretty awesome - now I want to paint everything.
* My new bedazzled iPhone case (yes, I realize I may be too old for these things but ask me if I care).
* Confirmation I received yesterday letting me know that God has great things in store for the future!!

Your turn!! Also, if you've already faced 30...would you say it was a monumental birthday? How'd you celebrate??

Manicure Monday - Bubblegum Violet

Happy Monday!! Long time, no see huh?! I know it's been a couple weeks since I've posted a No-Chip Manicure between traveling, packing, painting the new-old place and then moving (again), I had to take a quick break from my regular posting schedule. I think I'm back though...we'll see.

 Sally Hansen 38 Bubblegum Pink

Wet 'n Wild 231C Buffy the Violet Slayer

Anyway, this manicure is actually from a couple weeks ago. Despite these raggedy pictures, the purple is really a beautiful color (I blame bad lighting). I wasn't completely sold on the color combination though and only kept this on for about two days before changing it.

Hope you have a fantastic Monday!! Talk to you soon ;-)

XOXO,
